The 2018 new intakes (34 Apprentices) for NVTI certified Apprenticeship Training Programme, had their orientation on 17th September 2018, at the Samartex Apprentices Training Room. Some managers, masters and old students (employed by Samartex) graced the occasion to usher the apprentices into Samartex and advise them on discipline, career building and rules and regulations of the company. The 2018 Workers Day Holiday, was a packed event like all other May Day celebrations which are a traditional street carnival feast/event for the entire Western Region, organized by Samartex, right in Samreboi. The events commenced with a march- past by workers of various companies in Samreboi, followed by a long service Award Ceremony for Samartex employees. The departmental football competition being one of the main events was fiercely contested with the School Department coming out victorious to grab the 2018 trophy. A team of doctors, nurses, health assistants, midwives and laboratory technician from Samartex Hospital, carried out four separate outreaches from 16th May to 27th June 2018. These outreaches were focused on hypertension control and STDS management and were carried out in the following villages and communities : Ohiamatuo, Kokoase, Simpa, Abekoase, Amoaku, Mumuni, Woman no Good, Toropan, Gravel Yard.

Our Quality Control Team took part in the RMG Training Programme on best fumigation practices, approaches and required Personal Protective Equipment on the 15th of August 2018. Representing Samartex were Mr.Alex Kwarteng(Quality Control), Miss Dorcas Blay (Quality Control) and Mr. T.S Biji (Procurement).

The Association of Ghana Industries(AGI), awarded Samartex, Wood Processing Industry of the year at a ceremony held at the State House Banquet Hall on 11th November 2017. The Managing Director Richard Nsenkyire supported by some management staff: Katarina Kokoori, Christiana Nkoom and Thomas Assasie-Gyimah, received the award, at the event which was graced by the presence of the President of the Republic of Ghana , H.E Nana Akuffo Addo.

Samartex Timber and Plywood Company Limited was recognized and awarded at Malaria Safe Awards organized by “Private Sector Malaria Prevention” and “John Hopkins” Center for Communication Programmes.” The award was to recognized efforts and expenditure invested by the company, in an effort to make the entire Samreboi community malaria-free. This follows two major fumigation, fogging and disinfection exercise in February 2017(Entire Samreboi Community) and 7th July 2017 (affected communities post-flood)

    On the 23rd of May 2018, Samartex School Complex (JHS) took part in a quiz organised by GNPC Foundation for all schools in the Amenfi West Municipality. The quiz  was centred on STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Prince Amekor and Lucy Fuseni, represented Samartex at the quiz held in the Municipal Capital, Asankragwa, grabbing the second position. They received a cheque of GH 1,000, medals and school bags.
